Welcome To Long Island Carnival!

Long Island Carnival would like to sincerely apologize for the late notice, but regretfully the 7th annual Long Island Carnival will again have to be postponed for 2006 due to logistical reasons. We want to stress that the carnival has not been abandoned in Long Island, but merely that difficulties with past carnivals have forced the postponements. We do appreciate your continued interest and support.

Long Island Carnival became a buzzword on September 9, 1998, when a group of carnival enthusiasts met to discuss plans to introduce a Caribbean-styled carnival to Long Island.  Those plans became reality on September 11, 1999, when Hempstead Turnpike was transformed into a sea of spectators, masqueraders, and revellers for the first Carnival.  Thus, Long Island joined the many other cities, in Europe, North and South America, and beyond, which have successfully introduced carnival, one of the greatest shows on Earth, to its citizens.  Every year since it's inception, the Long Island Carnival has flourished, growing larger each year with more grandeur, colour, masqueraders, and revellers.

Building on the past successes of the carnival, the Carnival Committee is currently hard at work planning the upcoming carnival celebration.  As the Carnival continues to grow at its present phenomenal rate, it will take its place alongside carnivals in other major international cities and our carnivals back in the Caribbean, and become a viable tourist attraction, bringing an economic upsurge to the communities that house and endorse it.

Long Island Carnival is alive and growing...hope to see you there!
